Last week I read an article about an Australian training company fined over $200,000 for issuing false workplace safety certificates. Another article discusses the case of Critical Safety Consulting, a company based in New Jersey that went through the OSHA Outreach Training Program but issued false training cards. Owner Mark Dropala faces a $250,000 fine and a maximum five years in prison for his alleged crimes.
I could fill this blog with similar horror stories, specifically from the asbestos and lead safety industry, but I think you get my point. All training companies are not equal. That’s why we stand out from the rest.
All our asbestos courses and our curriculums have been reviewed by over fifteen state and federal departments. And that is just one of our certification divisions.
The process to obtain approval can be overwhelming, costly, and understandably arduous. It should be, because we operate in a hazardous environment, one that carries the risk of illness and death. Every professional in this field should demand and expect the training they receive is delivered by a highly vetted and licensed company.
The accreditation process, no matter the difficulty, has always been accepted as a necessary constant. Our mission statement and our business foundation are built upon providing our clients with 100% reliable training and certification resources. Our adherence to compliance standards is of utmost importance.
We will always be trustworthy and unwavering in our commitment to authenticity and accreditation of the certifications we issue. Sadly, this is not always the case for our competitors. Many other training outfits to try to skirt the accreditation process and issue fraudulent certificates.
How then do you ensure that you not only get what you paid for, but that your company brand is aligned with other companies that share your vision and standards?
Those who do business with companies that issue fraudulent certifications or conduct training that is shorter than regulations require, open themselves to danger, risk and possibly litigation from an accreditation board or even an employee.
No one should take that chance. Do your research, contact federal and state accreditation boards (EPA, OSHA, CDPHE, etc.) to assure that the company is licensed and that their background is clear. Don’t just research the company’s name, examine the background of the owner and key leaders of the company.
