Start your career in the asbestos air monitoring industry. Gain the professional skills you need to succeed in the collection of asbestos air samples as part of the asbestos abatement project. Any individual who performs a final visual inspection, delineates an asbestos spill, and/or performs any air monitoring referred to in Colorado Regulation No. 8, must be certified as an Air Monitoring Specialist (AMS). This initial course is a Division-approved AMS class and successful completion satisfies the training requirements listed in Regulation No. 8, section II.D.3.a.(i). Prior abatement / consulting experience recommended. A high school level comprehension of mathematics recommended.

This course will explore inspection and air collection/analysis activities in all areas of public, commercial, private, industrial, educational, governmental, and residential buildings/sites and give information on how to properly place and collect air samples as part of the abatement process. This course will prepare the student for a variety of jobs in asbestos consultation and for the Colorado state-administered certification exam. With this certification, the student will be qualified to apply for a position as an asbestos inspector at leading asbestos consulting firms across the US, including US – regulated territories and military sites.
