Winners of the Colorado Technology Association Award to be Announced February 24, 2022
DENVER, Colorado, Jan 13, 2022 — CHC Training is thrilled to announce founder and CEO Danaya Wilson’s nomination as a finalist in the APEX Awards, hosted by the Colorado Technology Association. The 21st annual APEX Awards recognize the companies and individuals who are leading the way for Colorado tech and providing an innovative product or service to drive the marketplace forward.
This year’s award features Wilson in the Colorado Entrepreneur Excellence category, highlighting her as an entrepreneurial leader who has contributed to multiple businesses, with at least one tech company started, grown, and operated in Colorado. According to the APEX award description, finalists in this category “have a true passion to seek out problems to solve, and they organize, manage, and assume the risk of a business or enterprise.” The other finalist in the category is Matt Frary of Managed Chaos Holdings.
Bringing Safety Training into the Digital Age
The field of hazardous materials mitigation first emerged in the 1970s and 1980s, when health risks of common construction inputs like asbestos and lead became known. During that time, the EPA and state health departments began to pass legislation to regulate and mitigate their usage. Since then, the systems for training and certifying hazardous materials professionals have struggled to keep up with a quickly-digitizing world. The industry has also struggled to attract the next generation of tradespeople.
A true entrepreneur, Danaya Wilson saw those challenges as an opportunity. She has taken on the role of pioneer and leader in bringing certification courses online. She has done battle with regulators, state by state, to get her online courses validated and approved. As a result, CHC Training now boasts more state approvals and licenses than any other safety training provider in the USA.
“I’m just honored to be recognized by Colorado’s tech community for the work I’ve done in an industry that can be anything but tech-forward,” says Wilson. ”No matter the outcome, this finalist distinction sends a strong signal to regulatory agency nationwide about the importance of openness to virtual training and certification for safety workers of today and tomorrow.”
2022 Colorado Tech Summit + APEX Awards
The Colorado Tech Summit is the place to connect, exchange ideas, and grow. Leaders across Colorado tech will speak to the emerging trends that shape our industry and affect our communities. This year’s theme, Tech For Good, highlights the power of technology in removing friction, accelerating change, and improving well-being. The event includes powerful keynotes, dynamic panels, and plenty of networking opportunities.
The shortlist is now available, and the judging period is underway. Award winners will be announced at the 2022 Colorado Tech Summit + APEX Awards on Thursday, February 24, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in the downtown business district of Denver, Colorado.
